Near Milwaukee and have a couple hours to kill? Looking for somewhere fun to go for a day? The Historic Third Ward is the place to go! It is filled with cute boutiques, dynamic restaurants, and colorful artwork. The Third Ward is hip, funky, and one of my favorite places in Milwaukee!
My favorite shop in the Third Ward hands down would have to be Retique. It is a branch of Goodwill but they only carry more high end brands- at Goodwill prices! Can it get any better than that?! I always find a ton of great stuff here and the staff is so friendly! Access Boutique is another favorite of mine. It has all the accessories you could ever want, hats, purses, sunglasses, jewelry, the list goes on. The store has a great set up and the walls are painted hot pink, what’s not to love! There are many other stores as well including Anthropologie, Shoo, and Broadway Paper.
As for restaurants, there’s only one place I go, the Public Market.(However, there are many other exceptional options as well). It’s reasonably priced and there are SO MANY options to chose from. There are tons of vendors with all sorts of diverse foods from fresh seafood to pitas and even a wine tasting bar. I built my own grilled cheese this past visit and it was delicious!
The interior of the Public Market is incredibly well decorated as well. The upper dining area has string lights and paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling. It has a hip, trendy feel that makes it the perfect place to grab lunch!
And where do you find that art I mentioned earlier? Everywhere you look of course! My favorite is “Chose a Positive Thought” painted onto the side of a building. It has such a great message and is a wonderful reminder for everyone who sees it. Another one of my favorites is the Colectivo mural, located on the side of the Colectivo Coffee building. It’s vibrant and colorful and really full of life.🎨
Shop, eat, walk around and see vibrant art, the Third Ward has it all!
